What you'll learn

During our first sessions I will mostly focus on getting to know you and making you comfortable in class through relaxed but guided conversation and easy questions or exercises. Then, I will bring materials specifically chosen for you and even tailor-made for you. I will encourage you to use your previous and newly acquired knowledge of English in conversation at a very slow pace and giving you the opportunity to speak. I will constantly gather feedback from our classes to make sure you enjoy and stay motivated to learn, which is our top priority. We will build on your fluency together and I will keep giving you corrections and advice on how to work on your own to make the most of your classes with me. For this purpose I will provide plenty of materials for you to work on your own as well as during our class sessions. I will help you build your vocabulary and push you to use it in conversation as well as in short and quick exercises, sometimes gently leading you in easy and guided conversation, sometimes demanding full focus on a specific grammar point, pronunciation exercise, or anything I might identify as needing extra work all the while keeping careful watch on your learning needs or weak points and adapting your program to you along the process. We will work on your speaking skills first, so you can start using your English from the beginning, even if it is very limited, trying to help you tolerate the initial frustration produced at the early stages of the learning process. We will work together on the following areas and skills: Vocabulary,Pronunciation, Grammar explanations, examples and exercises, and Listening comprehension.

This class is perfect for

Your Teacher

Jackie G
I am an English-Spanish translator and teacher currently living in Spain. I first started teaching at NIU, Illinois, USA, as a Teaching Assistant, and once I graduated from my Master's degree I started to work as a Court interpreter and translator. After a few years I came to Spain, where I am teaching English and Spanish, while I still work as a translator (specialized in Psychology). Being a translator helps me better understand the process of learning a foreign language as an adult and develop my teaching and language coaching techniques. I enjoy researching and trying different techniques to create my classes and creating my own materials. On-line Teacher of English as a Second Language. Independent Language Consultant: Written Spanish to English and English to Spanish translation and consecutive interpretation for company clients in Spain.
