Introduction to music for kids

Children will participate in a well-rounded musical programme comprising 3 different types of activities: singing, developing general musical skills through rhythm-based exercises and musical appreciation.

What you'll learn

Here are a few examples of the activities we will do during the class. All activities include the development of a sense of rhythm, learning how to distinguish between fast, slow, quiet and loud, as well as learning how to sing.

1 A PANDASTIC ACTIVITY
We will learn how to sing 2 different songs about pandas. Initially, children will sing together with the teacher, but the ultimate aim of the class is to teach them how to sing on their own whilst following the ukulele part
These are the songs:
Song 1 Panda Bear
Song 2 Ni hao Panda

2 TEDDY BEAR ACTIVITY
We will focus on the Teddy Bear Turn Around song and learn how to clap its rhythm, as well as how to sing it.

This class is perfect for

Kids aged 4-9 that want to get started with music but don't not play an instrument yet,. Children that already play an instrument and want to develop a sense of rhythm and improve their general musical knowledge. Relatives are very welcome to join!

Your Teacher

[object Object]
Whilst I completed 2 school placements when I was studying at Trinity College in Dublin, my main area of expertise is actually online teaching. I've been fond of it for a very long time. In May, I signed up to teach on another platform, and then another one, and then another one, and now I teach here on Amphy. I have developed both pedagogical and technological strategies to make the lessons as engaging as possible.

What students need

1 A real panda
2 A teddy bear
3 Any other stuffed dolls or animals will be fine as well!
4 If you have a musical instrument, you can bring it to class. Percussion instruments are perfect.
