My First Sewing Project

Sewing can be fun and creative. Start off your sewing journey with this workshop where you'll get to sew your own tote bag.

What you'll learn

You'll learn to draft your own design and transfer your markings from paper to fabric.
Practise some tips for sewing straight lines and creating sharp corners.
Adding details such as pockets and trimmings.

All my sessions are delivered in small groups to ensure you get the most out of the session. So make the most of this opportunity and learn a lifelong skill of sewing.

I’ve been sewing for around 30 years but only more recently have explored the true essence of sewing. Sewing is much more than a hobby as it empowers me to create styles that compliment my personality and represent my South Asian culture infused with British style of clothing.

What students need

2 A2 pieces of paper (you could use newspaper, wall paper etc. or tape some A4 sheets of paper together)
Half a metre of fabric
Sewing machine
Matching thread
Fabric scissors
Tape measure
Seam ripper
A ruler (30cm or longer)
1 meter of lace or trimming (be creative find anything you might have lying around the house)
A loop turner or a safety pin
