Advanced Chess Lessons
What you'll learn
The lessons will adress 4 main topics: 1.Positional techniques and ideas We will study the most important and practice-oriented positional techniques in chess. To name a few: piece restriction, pseudo- tempi loss, blockade, minor pieces maneuvering, prophylaxis, the exchange sacrifice, crafting a long-term plan, relations between the structure and the minor pieces, conditions of the trade, among others) 2. Intuition We will highlight the importance of the intuition in the decision making process. To do so, we will analyze carefully chosen positions to develop the ability to play “in the spirit of the position”. In other words, “feeling” what the position requires, without too much calculation, or deep analysis. The aim is to learn how to play not with the brain, but with the heart. 3. Blindfold training We will work on challenging blindfold training with different types of exercises, increasing the difficulty little by little (first with the board and no pieces, then no board and no pieces, everything in the mind). Additionally, we will train calculation with linear and nonlinear sequences, stressing the importance of 2 elements: the move order and the in-between moves. 4. Positions evaluation We will pinpoint the factors that we need to consider to evaluate chess positions. To do this we will work with concrete examples (open positions, closed positions, opening, middlegame and endgame positions, as exhaustive as possible), paying close attention to the connection between the assessment and the decisions arising from it.
